Every parent enjoys a good savings! Most times we are found looking at deals for car seats, infant gadgets, and toys for holidays!
However, there is one important time each year that is sometimes overlooked for savings, and we don’t notice it until we’re complaining about the $150 in school supplies we just bought at Walmart!
Mark your calendars for August 3-5, 2018 will be TAX FREE WEEKEND in Virginia! That’s right! Tax free days!! It may not seem like a big savings, but we all know it adds up! On top of just saving tax, many stores will have coupons, sales, and even offer military discounts like Payless Shoes!
What? Shoes? Yup, the tax free savings isn’t just on regular school supplies, but also on clothing too!
Here are the details you need to know!
- Qualified school supplies that are $20 or less per item (sorry those expensive graphing calculators won’t qualify) – but take the opportunity to stock up on extra markers, crayons, binders, glue sticks and more for those second semester teacher supply requests!
- Qualified clothing and shoes that are $100 or less per item – stock up for winter! Many stores will have winter clothing out too so why not go head and grab some pieces for when it starts to get cold? Or buy the next size shoes too for when they grow to quickly for the current size!
- Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness products (No better time to make your emergency kit than in the middle of the season!) This includes portable generators ($1,000 or less), gas powered chain saws ($350 or less), chainsaw accessories ($60 or less)
- Energy Star and Water Sense products for $2,500 or less per item
There is a little something for everyone in the Tax Free Weekend! Happy Savings!
