I don’t love clothing shopping. In fact, I kind of loathe it. After my last pregnancy, I was feeling unhappy with my current state — I had gained a lot of weight with the fertility treatments and even more with the pregnancy. The thought of dragging my breast pump out to the mall with my then 3 year old during the winter sounded daunting. But I wanted to feel better about myself. Somehow, I came across Stitch Fix on social media and thought to myself, “The $20 styling fee is worth opening my door and picking up a box of items carefully selected for me to try on!”
So I did that. By signing up for an account, I had to create my comprehensive style profile. What do I like to wear? What size am I? What style do I like? They have you select if you are petite, tall or average. They have you select the sizes and types of things you would like to receive (Tops, bottoms, dresses, skirts, shoes, accessories, outerwear?) The quiz is quite fun to fill out. After that you leave a note for your stylist. Are you looking for a specific type of item? Maybe you have a wedding to go to and you want a fix with some appropriate dresses. I also recommend going to Pinterest to make a Stitch Fix board. Go on a pinning spree of things you love and pin it to the board then link the board’s address with your stitch fix profile – your stylist will look at it. Here is a look at my current Stitch Fix Pinterest Idea Board.
So here is what you need to know — If you sign up here, you will get a free fix. In the future, fixes cost $20 for the styling fee – for your stylist to hand select 5 items for you to try on and love without dragging your newborn or toddlers to the mall in the winter. That $20 is so worth it. But – If you purchase anything, that $20 is applied to your purchase. It is kind of a guarantee that you will love their selections!
The joy you have when you open your first Stitch Fix box is immeasurable! It is beautifully folded, wrapped in tissue paper with a SF sticker on it. There is a package of information that is personalized for you. A note from your stylist telling you why she chose those items, cards for each item with how to style them, and a pricing list. Here’s another special thing about Stitch Fix. If you buy ALL 5 items – you get the $20 off that you spent for the stylist plus 25% off of every single item! This is all pretty amazing right? One of the things I love the most about Stitch Fix (Aside from their amazing customer service) is that I get items sent to me all of the time that I would have never tried on at the store or even taken it into the dressing room. When I try on these “outside of MY box” things — I usually fall in love with them and buy them. Having someone else pick things out for you and style you can really change your wardrobe.
Without further ado, here is my most recent fix. It is a Maternity fix which is totally awesome since it is a newer service. If you are looking for quality maternity items that you don’t have to shop online or in the stores for, Stitch Fix is your go-to for Maternity fixes too!
Loveappella Abie Faux Wrap Knit Maternity Dress
I cannot get over how beautiful this dress and how fantastic I felt in it. It highlighted my bump perfectly and it was a super soft material. This was a keeper!
Loveappella Maternity Arnie Maternity Knit Top
I had this one pinned on my board. How perfect is it? Mustard and stripes? Yes please!
41 Hawthorn Pascal Mixed Print Cardigan
Now this one is not maternity but as you can see, it works as a maternity top. I absolutely love their outerwear items — jackets and cardigans. This cardigan is super soft and so stylish.
Madigan Pembroke Maternity Knit Top
Don’t mind my ridiculous face in this photo – My husband takes my photos and sometimes doesn’t give me warnings! This shirt I was iffy about when I saw my preview. I thought I wouldn’t like the print. But I LOVED this top once it got here!
Loveappella Maternity Cheyene Short Sleeve Cross Top Back Maternity Knit Top
This shirt is the Bee’s Knees. Super soft, the perfect shape and timeless. With black and white polka dots, this shirt goes with everything!
Maybe you are looking at these prices and think that they are a little high – But remember, when you buy all of them, the whole fix is 25% off! So when you think about it like that, each item ends up being about $40. They sent me a free style this time so you don’t see that discounted on my ticket. This is a luxury service, but how much is your sanity worth? Also make your money go further, especially with Maternity fixes by asking things that will transition to your Postpartum period — cardigans or other items that are not specifically maternity but will work as maternity pieces.
Finally — aside from the amazing clothes, Stitch Fix is an amazing company with exceptional customer service. If you receive an item that doesn’t fit right, they do free exchanges. Returns of items you don’t want are always free (they send you a prepaid mailer/envelope that you just drop it right back in the mail to them). If you have an issue with an item, they replace that item for free. But most of all, they are so kind and caring to their customers. I have seen over the last two years many people who were recipients of the kindness that Stitch Fix gives to their customers. If they hear about something going on your life that either deserves a congrats or condolence or just support, they send it to you. I was the recent recipient of a sweet Stitch Fix gift.
I cannot convey how amazing this service and company is to you! I also cannot tell you how fantastic I feel when I put a piece of clothing on that I have bought from Stitch Fix. There is just something totally glamorous feeling when you pull that item out of your closet — Knowing that your very own stylist chose it for you!
