I like to think I am up to date with most things breastfeeding and pumping related. I tend to know all of the latest and greatest products. From pumps to pump bags to whatever little thing makes pumping or breastfeeding easier and is trendy.
One company has been a favorite of mine since they first started in 2010 soon after I had my second child. Bamboobies got their start with a work at home mom just trying to fix her personal problem of leaky boobs. Since then, they have added many amazing products to their mom friendly nursing and pumping line. For the record, I am not getting paid to write this blog. I just love their products so much!
Bamboobies Nursing Pads
This was the first product I bought from bamboobies. I still have nursing pads from 8 years ago. These pads have made it through 4 (FOUR!) babies where I have nursed and/or pumped for more than a year for each of the first three and currently pumping exclusively for the fourth. These are the only nursing pads I will use. I have a mixture of day heart shaped pads and large circle, ultra-absorbent night pads. I hang a small garment bag in the bathroom, toss the pads in there, zip and wash with my whites. These pads are not as noticeable under clothing as some of the other brands I have used in the past. They also have eco-friendly disposable pads and I like them a lot too. They are super soft and don’t make the crunchy noises other disposable pads make under clothing.
Chic Nursing Shawl
This is one of my favorites (really all of Bamboobies products are but I feel like I need to say it again!). This shawl is really soft. In the past I have always had nursing covers that looked like a nursing cover. They had a little strap around the neck and you would pull it out. People recognized it like you would an apron in the kitchen – except this time, you are serving up a meal for a baby. Bamboobies came out with something that you want to wear – even when you aren’t nursing. This shawl is really soft and really stylish. It has an asymmetrical hem with a cute ruffle down the arm. I would wear it over clothes as a piece of my wardrobe!
Boob Ease 100% Organic Nipple Balm
This was actually my second product I ever used from Bamboobies. I was trying to find something to buy from Target.com to meet my minimum for free shipping and I stumbled across this. I cannot rave enough about this product. It does not have lanolin (which many people are highly allergic to and lanolin actually causes friction when pumping!) and it goes on so much smoother. This product is a nipple saver. I can always tell when I have forgotten to use it. This is a must-have for every woman who is lactating!
Yoga Nursing Brahhhh
I will admit, I only bought this because I had a 30% off coupon code delivered to me by Bamboobies for some yearly sale. I figured I would buy it only with the discount because I rarely spend that much money on a nursing bra. I got it and quickly put it on. Again, it was soft (notice a trend here? I have to have soft fabrics against my body or they irritate me) but the most amazing part is I could wear it while pregnant and it didn’t bother me. This is still my favorite bra, when I wear it, it is supportive, yet feels like my girls are hanging out floating in the clouds. The padding is kind of thick but if you have heavy let downs it will protect you in public and they are removable!
Soothing Therapy Pillows
These lovely flax seed filled pillows can be put into the freezer or microwave to offer you the type of soothing temperature you need. Those first two weeks can be hellish. You want to walk around with you nipples out (which is really a great thing to do as it promotes healing!) but sometimes you want something else a little different. These pillows can definitely soothe your breasts when they are uncomfortable from nursing, pumping or engorgement. When heated, they can also help elicit let downs if you are struggling with that! Oh… did I mention they are soft?
Organic Pumping Lubricant
I would say that about 75% of mothers who pump don’t know this. When you pump, it is SOOOOO much more comfortable when you use some kind of lubricant. Dry pumping is about as comfortable as dry humping – yeah I am a bit inappropriate, but I hope you snickered from that image in your head! When I am at home, I use coconut oil but it is a bit harder to take that on the go. I got this product on a whim thinking it would be just okay. It is a great product. The dispensing top is much like you would get on a Vaseline based chapstick like Carmex. I will say that the lubricant itself is a little bit thin so be careful when squeezing it – it may dispense too fast.
Have you tried bamboobies? What was your reasoning to start? Less money when you can reuse? Smaller eco-footprint? Super soft fabric against your already tender nipples? If you haven’t tried them yet, you need to! And their emails to their customers make my day. Funny, witty, and personal. This company has it all going on and they deliver amazing products and customer service!
