When shopping around, looking for a doula, there are many considerations.
One of the first considerations that people look at is price. Here at Stars & Stripes Doulas, we pride ourselves for being completely transparent – both to our doulas and our clients. We are not the highest priced doulas in the area and we are not the lowest priced doulas in the industry. However, we are lower than the industry average in Washington DC.
When we considered what our pricing would be, we took a lot of things into consideration. We want you, the client, to know exactly what you’re paying for when you pay for your Labor Package.
Our doulas are all highly trained for doula work, qualified and most of them have extensive education as well. We require that all of our doulas have a background check before signing a contract as a doula with our agency. They are also required to carry liability insurance and are required to be up to date on their CPR certifications. We train our doulas frequently to ensure that they are up to date with the most current labor doula practices.
When you’re paying the fee to Stars & Stripes Doulas, you are hiring a doula who knows about military practices. You are hiring a doula that has base access and understands the crazy life of military families including supporting a client whose husband is deployed or TAD.
Our services start at contract signing. This means you are getting the kind of support you want as frequently as you need, not only throughout the pregnancy and labor but also during the postpartum transition period.
Finally, when you pay for a Stars and Stripes Labor Package, you are getting support. Support not only through text and email for potentially months, but you are also getting 2 doulas for multiple meetings with you, labor support and postpartum support!
- 4 hours of Consultation hours (2 hours for each doula)
- 4 hours of birth wishes planning session (2 hours for each doula)
- 12 hours face to face support during labor including 1-2 hours immediate postpartum support (no, we don’t leave if you go over 12 hours)
- 2 hour postpartum shift to take care of any needs you have around the house!
When looking at the fee, know that you are getting far more than just the face to face labor support. You are getting the assurance that no matter when you go in labor, you will have a doula, your doula by your side when you need her – even if it is before the typical 38 week start of on call time most doulas provide or after the monumental 40 week mark. You are getting the expertise of two doulas for the price of one. The investment into hiring a doula is invaluable – you cannot quantify the support that you will receive. THIS is what you are paying for when you pay for a labor support package through Stars & Stripes Doulas!
